Rs.: 650.00 (For India Only) This book consists of ten chapters focusing on basic elements and models in management mathematics. It gives the readers a taste of management mathematics. Different from traditional contents of Operations Research which may include topics like linear programming, integer programming and dynamic programming etc. and require readers to have higher level of mathematics in Linear Algebra and Calculus, this book provides elementary materials in management mathematics. The book is divided into four parts and each one has its own theme. In each chapter, a number of examples are given to demonstrate the theory and methods discussed in each topic. A summary of glossary with a list of related references are also given at the end of each chapter. Chapters
1-2 give a brief introduction to set theory and solution techniques for solving
difference equations. They are useful for logical thinking, getting feeling with
numbers and modeling number sequences. These are initial steps in solving
management problems. Chapters 3-5, we introduce the concepts of limit, differentiation, integration and differential equations. Techniques for solving integration and differential equations are discussed. These are useful concepts and tools in modeling and describing many management and practical problems. Chapters
6-8 introduce the basic concepts of probability theory, which includes Bayes’
theorem, mean and variance of a random variable, a class of classical
probability distributions and applications in management problems. Probability
is an important tool for tackling problems with randomness in nature. Finally
in Chapters 9-10, we introduces different types of models arise in reliability
theory and inventory systems. The techniques of model formulation and solution
methods are discussed in detail. This textbook is aimed at students, researchers, professionals and beginners in the mathematical aspects of management studies. Readers are expected to have some basic knowledge of Calculus and Linear Algebra.
